WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT POLLUTION

Environmental pollution is not a new phenomenon, but it stills remains one of the biggest problems the world has ever faced. In Kaloleni, the residents have learned to live with it, adding hops, skips, and jumps into the daily routines as they try to get by. There is no area you can pass without seeing a piece of plastic laying on the ground, ironically adding to the aesthetic of its surrounding.

When our founder, David Mwendapole, came back to Kaloleni this year, he was shocked by the state of affairs of his childhood neighborhood. This made him reach out on social media writing, “ These images (see below) woke me up last night as I couldn’t see how I am in Newport, and some areas of where I come from look like this.”

The pollution in Kaloleni is affecting our children. They have to jump over large sewage to get to the field. Not only does it affect their mobility, but it also affects their health. They get sick easier than a child who lives in a clean environment.

This is a call for action. We need to team up to clean the environment. We should get together and do it ourselves, and organize clean-up drives. We can do this as a way to give back to the community. If you are far away and would want to help, do not worry, you still can. You can always donate to the Kitatkid foundation via our website.
